Two Summer Events I’m Excited For

To say this summer feels un-summery would be an understatement at best. Most of the “normal” summer things we count on doing, like camps, trips and summer fairs are cancelled so it’s hard to feel terribly excited about the season (at least for me). But I am excited to have found at least two special activities to look forward to! Are there any events you’re excited for that we don’t have listed? Leave any ideas in the comments for us and we’ll add them to the list.

Here are our two picks:

  1. Tribeca Drive-In Movies at the Rose Bowl - Who doesn’t love a drive-in movie?! For some reason it’s a scientific fact that watching a movie in your car, no matter what the movie is, makes for a pretty perfect outing. This summer the Tribeca Drive-In at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena features an amazing lineup of movies playing every Thursday - Sunday for the rest of July. The movies range from family-friendly viewing early in the day (i.e “Inside Out” and “The Lego Movie” at at 1:00pm) to classics (“The Goonies” and “Beetlejuice”) to less family-friendly fare (“John Wick” and “Girls Trip”) starting at 8:00 with various showings in between. The Drive-In opens an hour before show time and concessions are available.

  2. Gentle Barn Drive Through - We’re huge fans of animal sanctuary The Gentle Barn in Santa Clarita so as soon as I saw this event I bought tickets. Every Sunday through August 2nd this beloved rescue animal institution is offering a unique drive-through experience that takes you behind the scenes to areas of the property not normally open to the public. The tour starts at Sun Chlorella, a few miles from the area usually open to guests and then visitors caravan down to the main Gentle Barn property for an educational and heart-warming experience.

Enjoy!
