No-Sew Felt Monsters With Sit + Think Studio

These super easy no-sew felt monsters are a fun project that can grab the 5 minutes of attention you have from a four-year-old, or can be a fun family project for an older kid that wants to create a whole monster village!

All you need is felt, scissors, and glue. You can also add on any embellishments you may have lying around or leftover from other projects. For this example, I used a few pompoms we had. The glue I found works best for this project is Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue, that can be found at any craft store. This glue is the only one that seemed to have any stick right away, and then ended up drying pretty solid. Other glues had trouble with how porous the felt is.

You can buy felt in a range of colors, and it’s inexpensive so you don’t have to worry too much about kids cuts getting a little wild and having to start over. The other amazing thing about working with felt vs. other fabrics is that it doesn’t fray when you cut into it. So no need to hem anything!

Cut out a few basic shapes and some pieces to make faces. Little ones may need help with the smaller face pieces! If you have kids scissors, this is a great way for littles to work on their fine motor skills (with lots of supervision : ))!

Put glue on the larger pieces first and get them into place.

Get glue on those little face pieces and arrange them on the body!

Grab any other embellishments you want to add and glue them on too.

For this one, I cut slits up the side of the arm shapes, folded them over and glued them into place.

If you need to hold anything in place while the glue dries you can put some clips on there.

Make a village and get your play on! You can use these as appliques on jackets or other fabric items, or sew on some elastic and make headbands or bracelets out of them!
